Employers report that their number of applications they receive for each opening has risen significantly but the total number of positions/job postings has been reported to nearly triple.
The survey also shows that college hiring is increasing for all regions with projections for the Northeast being the largest. According to a survey completed last fall, employers are most interested in seeking new college graduates with bachelor's degrees in the following majors: business, engineering and computer science fields.
According to the recent Job Outlook Spring update from the National Association of Colleges and Employers, projections for hiring new graduates from the Class of 2011 is up 19.3%. This is especially good news since this is up from the Fall Job Outlook survey completed by employers that predicted hiring to increase by 13.5% for this year's class.
