You are invited to attend a Webinar, "LGBTQ Students: Creating a Safe and Welcoming Campus," on Wednesday, February 16 from 2- 3:30 PM. An RSVP is requested by February 9, 2011. The Webinar is being held at the ISYE Executive Classroom. The Learning Outcomes of the Webinar are as follows:
- An understanding of the current demographics and experiences of the LGBTQ student population – who are they, what are they experiencing on campus?
- An understanding of the needs of LGBTQ students: what does the current research say?
- What resources are currently available – who is doing what – which campuses/programs are the best models?
- Next practices in creating a culture of allies and acceptance on campus.
- Strategies and best practices for creating a welcoming community for LGBTQ students and their allies, and combating homophobia and heterosexism.
The Webinar is being hosted by the Office of Diversity Programs, a department in the Office of the Dean of Students.
