Intern with a Grassroots NGO in Tajikistan!
Interested in aiding refugees? Promoting free speech issues? Empowering women entrepreneurs? America's Unofficial Ambassadors is excited to announce NEW NGO placements in Tajikistan! These summer internships are designed for students and professionals looking to gain experience in human rights, social justice, and humanitarian aid. Summer internship applications are due March 25th. Click read more below to learn about these opportunities:
1. Tajik Community-Based Tourism Association (TCBTA)
The TCBTA seeks to improve the livelihood of Tajik citizens working in community-based tourism (CBT). CBT is a form of ecotourism, where local entrepreneurs are able to autonomously develop tourism services, and retain the income they earn. The TCBTA aims to improve lives within the CBT sector by creating new jobs, increasing women's participation, and developing programs to familiarize tourists with Tajik life and culture. The TCBTA seeks a communications intern to increase awareness and outreach for the CBT industry.
2. IRODA
IRODA is the only NGO in Tajikistan working to provide services for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). IRODA works to both raise ASD awareness among government officials, educators, and medical professionals, and provide direct services to children and teenagers with autism. IRODA seeks up to four interns to perform different roles: two communications and development interns will develop and maintain IRODA's website and write funding proposals in English, and two program associates will work with IRODA's staff to lead activities for children.
3. ACTED
ACTED, a French NGO, is committed to providing humanitarian relief to those most in need, including refugees. With a staff of over 5,000 people, ACTED provides aid to at-risk populations in 34 countries using a multidisciplinary and context-based approach. In Tajikistan, ACTED's strategy is focused on promoting holistic disaster management, sustainable economic development, and inclusive local governance within each of the country's four provinces. ACTED seeks an outreach intern to support the creation of issue-based advocacy materials, and the promotion of ACTED's work in Tajikistan. The intern will also manage the ACTED website for Tajikistan, producing English content for the site based on project reporting.
4. Civil Internet Policy Initiative (CIPI)
CIPI works with government organizations, NGOs, and local stakeholders to advocate for internet freedom and run computer literacy classes for young adults. CIPI also organizes the Social Innovation Camp: a program for Tajik youth who aspire to use IT to meet critical social needs. CIPI seeks two interns: a programmer and a communications and development associate. The programmer will code for CIPI's website, and teach others to write code. The communications and development intern will write and edit English language content for CIPI's website, manage outreach, and write funding proposals in English.
