The Federal Jackets Fellowship offers $7,500 to help defray the cost of living while interning in Washington, D.C. during the fall and spring ($5,000 during the summer). Internships are of the applicant’s choosing but must be in D.C. and in the office of a member of Congress, with a Congressional Committee, and executive branch office in D.C. or around Washington, D.C.
Deadline for Fall 2016 fellowship is February 12, 2016 by 5:00 p.m.

The Department of Education (ED) offers internships for students interested in seeking valuable work experience in government and federal education policy and administration. Volunteers have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the Department's mission to promote student achievement and preparation for global competitiveness by fostering educational excellence and ensuring equal access.
Deadline for Fall 2016 internships: July 15

There are other deadlines for spring and summer internships at ED. These are also unpaid internships. Summer 2016 = March 15 Spring = October 1
