Thank you for highlighting Dr. Sehat's talk — the idea that we've been "fighting over the Founding Fathers" says so much about how identity and narrative are never really settled, even centuries later. The tension between how history is written and how it is felt is endlessly fascinating.
That intersection of personal identity and collective memory is something I find myself drawn to in literature as well. My novel I Feel Like a Woman (إحساسي امرأة) explores a similar kind of inner reckoning — a psychological journey through layers of identity that society often leaves unspoken. It's the kind of story that asks: whose version of "self" gets to be the official one?
Dr. Sehat's work seems to ask the same question about nations. Would love to attend — this sounds like a conversation that goes far beyond the lecture hall. 🎙️📖
