Parent Program Student Leader

The Parents Program is seeking students for a new student leadership position at Georgia Tech. This leadership position assists current and prospective parents and family members as they become part of the Tech Family. The Parents Program Student Leaders serve a key role in the facilitation of ongoing programmatic efforts by the Parents Program and also serve as a resource to the Division of Student Affairs. Eight student leaders will be selected to begin their work in January 2015.

The Parents Program Student Leaders will receive opportunities to build their leadership skills, to work with other student leaders and professionals from across campus, to learn more about themselves personally and develop professionally, all while getting some great perks that come along with this unique job.

Position Responsibilities:
Assist the Parents Program Office with their programs and services, including, but not limited to the following:

  • Serve as an ambassador for the Parents Program and a representative of GA Tech
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource to parents and students
  • Participate in programs and events for parents, families, and students as needed by the Parents Program and the Division of Student Affairs
  • Staff other special programs hosted by the Parents Program, such as Family Weekend and Sibs Day
  • Assist with Gold Carpet Day, including set-up and break-down of the information table, greeting families, answering questions, and sharing resources
  • Work an estimated 20 office hours in the Parents Program Office during the academic year
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements for Applicant:
  • Currently enrolled GA Tech undergraduate student desiring a leadership position
  • Minimum of 12 credit hours completed by start of 2015 Spring semester
  • Good academic standing preferred
  • Good judicial / conduct standing preferred
  • Preferred skills: excellent communication skills, public speaking, and previous experience working with teams
Compensation:
  • Stipend of $600
