The Southern Education Foundation (SEF), www.southerneducation.org is initiating a fellows program designed to accelerate innovation and change in education research, policy, and practice.

The SEF Fellows for Innovation and Change program will select and announce its inaugural cohort in 2013. Through this effort, SEF seeks to establish a cross-section of talented and active professionals interested in developing cutting-edge research, policy solutions, and innovative practice to improve the educational outcomes of all students from pre-kindergarten to higher education. This three-year fellowship seeks to achieve three primary purposes:

  • To promote innovative research, policy development, and programming aimed at improving educational quality, equity, degree attainment and educational outcomes for low-income and minority students;
  • To strengthen the pipeline, network, and presence of talented and accomplished scholars, public policy professionals, and practitioners who will play important roles in achieving educational reform over the next decade; and
  • To create synergistic opportunities between SEF's programmatic work and the work of fellows in ways that improve impact and advance common causes.
Applications are due on March 15, 2013.
