The Sam Nunn School of International Affairs hosts a Model United Nations conference each Fall Break (mid-October) for approximately 800 high school students from the southeast and beyond. We are looking for students to help research and plan this conference. Students will be the Directors and Assistant Directors for the 2013 Conference. Directors and Assistant Directors form the core of the conference staff, and they are responsible for running one of a dozen or so committees consisting of generally 30 to 80 students.
Participating in GTMUN enables students to improve their research, organizational, public speaking, writing and leadership skills. These skills are extremely important to success both at Georgia Tech and in future career settings. Potential employers look highly upon students who have organized and hosted an educational conference with anywhere from 700 to 1000 attendees. Additionally, this opportunity allows students to positively represent Georgia Tech as they interact with students from across the region. We offer numerous committees with diverse topic subjects to engage all students with all interest, such as:
- the UN Environmental Programme
- the Commission on Science and Technology for Development
- the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization
- and the Committee on Economic and Financial Matters.
