The GEWN Scholarship is open to female, non-traditional undergraduate students who will be enrolled in a four-year program in a metropolitan Atlanta accredited institution for the coming academic year. Non-traditional is defined as a student who is at least 24 years old. The scholarship is targeted at women who have completed at least one year of undergraduate study and who have returned or are returning to college after a gap in their education.

Attached with this letter is additional information about the criteria and application process and a short application form. We appreciate your assistance in promoting the scholarship to your students. Our application deadline is April 15, 2012.

Since the inception of our Scholarship Program in 1998, we have awarded over $100,000 to 40 outstanding recipients. For the 2012-2013 academic year, we will award a total of three $3,000 scholarships to Atlanta-area students. We are especially pleased to announce that FootSmart, a Benchmark Brands company, again will sponsor one of these awards.

GEWN’s Scholarship Committee will review applications, interview the top candidates, and notify the award winners by June 15, 2012. Funds will be placed in the recipients’ school accounts in July, and the award winners will be honored at a special luncheon in Atlanta in October 2012.
