Women's Awareness Month Events

Women’s Awareness Month (WAM) 2012 Kickoff 
Date: March 1, 2012, Time: 11am-2pm
Where: Tech Walkway
WAM programs and campus partners will host informational tables with prize opportunities. The CRC will provide Zumba and cardio kickboxing demos during the afternoon, and WAM punchcards will be available for pick up. Go to WAM signature and collaboration events and get a WAM representative to punch your card to be eligible for more prizes at the end of the month!

Women's Day of Service 
Date: March 3, 2012, Time: 7:30am

Women's Day of Service is dedicated to coming together as women in the Georgia Tech Community to serve the Atlanta community. Typical projects include working at soup kitchens and animal shelters.

Take Back the Night
Date: March 15, 2012, Time: 7:00pm
Place: Campanile

Candle light vigil and program to honor survivors of sexual assault and educate the campus community about issues related to rape and sexual violence.

The Clothesline Project
Dates: March 5-9 (Shirtmaking Week in WRC); March 12-16 (Display Week)
Time: 10am-4pm, daily
Location: Tech Walkway                                                                                
A visual display of shirts, made by and for women, who are survivors or victims of different forms of gender-based violence.

Red Dress Fashion Show
Date: March 27, 2012, Time: 8:00pm
Where: Student Center Ballroom

Red Dress Fashion show is a Women’s Awareness Month sponsored fashion show dedicated to increasing awareness of women's cardiac health. Heart disease is the #1 killer of women in the U.S.

Women’s Open Mic Night with Erato
Date: March 29, 2012, Time: 7 - 8:30pm
Location: Library
Erato, the Georgia Tech journal of arts & letters invites members of the Georgia Tech community are encouraged to bring and share their various forms writing and art. From poetry to photography to music, we want this to be a time to support and showcase the incredible artistic talent of Tech students and faculty.
