HTS's Kaitlyn Whiteside on Oprah!

Posted by Angela Valenti On 11:54:00 AM
Last week, Oprah invited 5 of 40 students to come to Chicago for the taping of an episode on the 50th Anniversary of the Freedom Ride. She recognized the students and they had a short appearance on the show. One of the students was our very own Kaitlyn Whiteside!

The idea of the student freedom ride came out of PBS and American Experience. They're traveling from DC to New Orleans, tracing with original route with original riders for the 50th anniversary. The trip culminates with the PBS television release of Stanley Nelson's inspirational documentary on the Freedom Riders May 16th at 9:00 pm.

Here is a link to the website for the Freedom Ride: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/americanexperience/freedomriders/2011/about/
If you click on meet the riders you can see Kaitlyn's bio. They'll also be doing blog/video/social media updates during the ride. (Here is the blog link: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/americanexperience/freedomriders/2011/) Anyone can also follow Kaitlyn on twitter at kaitlynsfr.
