Stanford GSB Summer Business Program

Spring is already here and many students are still exploring their options for this summer. For those who’d like to learn more about business and develop their professional skills, the Summer Institute for General Management (SIGM) can provide an excellent insight into an MBA curriculum and aid in their preparation for post-undergraduate life.
Developed in 2004, SIGM is an academically intensive four-week residential program designed for college juniors, seniors, and recent graduates (1-2 years out of undergrad) majoring in non-business fields.  Taught by the same outstanding faculty who lead our MBA program, SIGM provides students with a fundamental knowledge of business with courses in 12 core management disciplines.  In addition to the academic curriculum, students receive training from our Career Management Center, individualized coaching, and meet with guest speakers from prominent local companies across a variety of industries.  A program overview, faculty profiles, and information about the application are available at www.gsb.stanford.edu/sigm.  Additionally, I’ve attached a copy of the participant profile and schedule for the 2010 program and a single sheet describing the program for you to share with your students.
The dates for this summer’s program are June 19 – July 16, and the deadline for applications is April 15, 2011.  Although there is plenty of time to apply, we are admitting applicants on a rolling basis and expect the program to be full close to the deadline.  Please contact Matt Selaya with any questions or queries related to the program.
