Legislative Aide Position

The Georgia House of Representatives needs students to serve as legislative aides during the 2011 Legislative Session at the State Capitol. The legislative session begins on Monday, January 10th 2011, the start date of this position, and will last through the end of March- beginning of April. This will correspond with the Fall Semester.

Please note that these are temporary positions, but require a full time commitment during the 40 days of the legislative session.

Each legislative aide will be paid weekly by their individual representative and the amount will be determined by each representative.

Each Representative will have particular tasks for their legislative aide to complete.  Some of these duties may include:
•    Keeping an updated schedule of meetings and events the representative will attend.
•    Attend meetings the representative is unable to attend and take notes on the issues discussed.
•    Welcome outside groups that visit the representative at the Capitol and possibly set up a tour.
•    Visit the Clerk of the House or Secretary of the Senate’s office daily to pick up copies of legislation, First Readers, Composite Sheets and Rules Calendars.
•    Pick up finished legislation in Legislative Counsel.

Academic credit may be approved by your institution.
