Volunteer at Grady Rape Crisis Center

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

RAPE CRISIS CENTER volunteers provide personal support to victims of sexual abuse. 1 year commitment is required, 12 hour shift a month or (2) 6 hour shifts a month. 

Respond to crisis calls from survivors and family and friends of sexual assault survivors. 

Given consent by the survivor, accompany her/him through the medical exam, complete paperwork, provide any Social Service referrals and drop off/pick up prescriptions/medications from Pharmacy. 

Provide support to the survivor throughout her/his stay in the hospital. 

Qualifications: 
At least 18 years of age; 
Interest and dependability; 
Two personal references; 
Health and fitness necessary to perform volunteer assignment; 
Minimum assignment 3 hours per shift, once a week for three months (except for Volunteer Rape Counselor assignment) ; 
Completion of training courses required for certain assignments
