Posted by Angela Valenti On 11:25:00 AM

Because of the inclement weather that we have been experiencing these couple of weeks, Dr. Obie Clayton and the committee has decided to extend the Friday, January 21 deadline to January 28, 2011. Please note:

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
1. A one-page abstract*
2. A faculty letter of support indicating that the student’s research is, or will be completed and ready for presentation on February 26, 2011.

* To be considered for an Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research, completed papers must be submitted by Friday, January 28, 2011.
Part II. Application Acceptance
Dr. Clayton will notify students of their acceptance and registration information the week of January 31-February 4,2011.
A $25 registration fee is necessary to help defray the costs of the
Banquet and proceedings. This fee is required for all students participating in the symposium and all faculty attending the banquet.

This year marks the 29th Annual Southeastern Undergraduate Sociology Symposium (SEUSS) to be held on Friday February 25th and Saturday February 26th 2011 at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia.

The theme of this year’s symposium is Complex Inequalities: the Need for Pragmatism in Research and Education, although topics in any area of sociology are welcome.  Presenting their research at SEUSS provides students with an opportunity to develop important professional skills and establish social networks with students and faculty at other southeastern schools.  Those students who submit full papers by the January 21, 2011 deadline will also be eligible for an Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research.

Students must submit an abstract (or a full paper) by January 21, 2011 along with a faculty letter of support to qualify for participation.  More information about the symposium is available at our website: http://www.sociology.emory.edu/SEUSS/index.html
