Ivy Preparatory Academy, a Georgia public charter school for girls, is seeking Georgia Tech students to volunteer as teaching fellows. This school is located in Norcross, so you do need your own transportation.
Other requirements include a GPA of 3.0 or higher and the ability to commit to being at the school for at least one 4-hour block per week. Spending more than 4 hours a week at the school is great, but the 4-hour block is essentially the minimum commitment.
Students in any major are welcome, as are students with interests in any teaching field (this is not limited to math/science students). But there is also a special opportunity for Tech students who have an interest in working with a 7th-grade engineering class.
If you're interested in volunteering as an intern at the school, submit your resume and a letter of interest to Ms. Kelli Peterson by May 7, 2010. Email Ms. Peterson at kpeterson@ivyprepacademy.org (Subject Line: IPA Teaching Fellows). Fellowship will begin in August 2010.
