Georgia Tech student filmmaker Nathan Black will present two of his short documentaries -- The Art Of Overcoming Poverty and Propagating Peace -- and lead a discussion of the films.

The Art of Overcoming Poverty
"The Art of Overcoming Poverty" is a 15-minute documentary that calls attention to and analyzes the issue of poverty in Atlanta with a focus on homelessness. One out of every eight people (37 million people) in the U.S. lives below the poverty line. Atlanta's role in tackling homelessness is highlighted with commentary from city officials, homeless people, and analysts.

Propagating Peace
"Propagating Peace" is a 5-minute documentary that dives into the world of community organizing, community empowerment, and citizen involvement in reshaping our society. Atlanta-based non-profit Village Vitals (www.villagevitals.org) is featured for their creative, holistic vision that leads to the revitalization of Atlanta's neighborhoods.
